STAR and Drug alcohol service

The STAR and Drug alcohol service team helps people who want support with their drinking. They offer support that is tailored to your needs. They are here to help you make positive changes and support your recovery.

The team offers support from sites across East Sussex, helping more people get the right support, close to home.

Support includes:

One You East Sussex

One You East Sussex offers a drink less programme for people wanting to improve their health by drinking less alcohol.

It's a free service which offers personalised sessions in ways that work for you.

Adfam

An online service for families and adults aged 18 and over affected by alcohol or drug use.

The service offers:

  • One-to-One Support:
    • Individual assessment
    • Up to six sessions of personalised support
  • Depending on individual needs, clients may be signposted to further support. This can include:
    • Up to six Peer Support Group sessions
    • Up to twelve Counselling sessions.

Drug and Alcohol Wellbeing Network

The Drug and Alcohol Wellbeing Network team are friendly and non-judgmental. Their services are free and confidential.

They are open to anyone experiencing difficulties with alcohol and drugs.  

The team offers support from sites across West Sussex, helping more people get the right support, close to home.

  • Support tailored to your needs and goals. 

  • Group support available in person and online. 

  • Help to connect with local services and people with similar experiences. 

  • Access to a range of health and support services. 

  • Health checks, nursing support and medicines if needed. 

  • Advice and support to help reduce harm, including access to naloxone and clean injecting equipment. 

  • Opportunities to volunteer and build new skills. 

  • Support for people under 25

West Sussex Alcohol wellbeing service

This service offers free advice and support for people aged 18 and over.

It can help you drink less alcohol and improve your health.

Access to Alcohol wellbeing advisors depends on where you live in West Sussex.

Support includes:

  • Access to an Alcohol Wellbeing Advisor 

  • One to one appointments by phone, video call or face to face 

  • Individual assessment 

  • Weekly sessions between 30 minutes and one hour 

  • Support to set and achieve your own goals 

Drink Coach

Drink Coach offers free and confidential online support to adults in West Sussex, including:

  • 6 free sessions with a specialist Drink Coach 

  • Each session is 40 minutes via video call 

  • Confidential and flexible 

  • Available evenings and weekends 

Brighton & Hove support

Brighton and Hove Recovery Service

The Recovery Service supports people in Brighton & Hove who want help with drugs or alcohol. 

The team includes health professionals, peer mentors and volunteers. Some have personal experience of recovery. 

They will help you find the right support and make the changes you want to make.

You can access:

  • One-to-one support 

  • A plan to help you achieve your recovery goals 

  • Daily group sessions from Monday to Friday

Oasis Project  

Oasis Project is a service just for women who need help with alcohol or drug use. 

It also offers support for their children and families. 

The Hope Project supports young adults aged 18-25.  

The Young Oasis Project is for children and young people (aged 0-18) who have been affected by a family member’s drug or alcohol misuse.

There are a range of services available for adults, young adults, young people and children, including: 

  • Personalised assessments 

  • 1:1 and group sessions 

  • 16 week programme for any parent who uses drugs and alcohol and who has social services involved with their children  

  • Social workers 

  • Drug and alcohol treatment and therapy for adults agreed 16-25

Drinking alcohol is a common way to relax or celebrate. However, it is easy for drinking to creep up over time, making it tricky to cut down. 

For anyone in Surrey wanting to drink less or stop completely, the AlcoholWise programme offers free help and support. 

  • Up to 6 free phone chats with a trained alcohol support worker 

  • Help setting simple goals to cut down or stop drinking 

  • Support to handle cravings and tricky situations 

  • Easy tips to build healthy habits and take control

Surrey Drug and Alcohol Care

Help is available 24/7 from friendly helpline advisors who are ready to listen without judgment. 

Callers can talk through their struggles, thoughts, and feelings.  

The team can also suggest helpful services or connect callers directly to phone counselling and local support. 

Telephone counselling programme: 

  • This service offers 12 weeks of free one-to-one counselling

  • While the sessions are completely free, optional donations are welcome. People can sign up directly by calling the helpline.
