Quality and safety

Each year NHS England sets out its expectations in relation to quality and core standards we are expected to achieve to ensure local people are receiving timely access to good quality healthcare - so monitoring how local services are performing against these standards, and taking action where needed, is an important part of what we do.

We also work hard to address local issues and improve care through our wider transformation programmes so it’s vital we continually monitor our progress against our plans - and look at what’s working well and what isn’t - so we can adjust and refine our approach.

In doing this, we are responsive and constantly adapt to new issues and challenges as they arise - this all happens through our governance structure and a number of committees, which monitor our performance and delivery to seek assurance of our progress and ensure we stay on track.
