Update on primary care services in Whitehawk
NHS Surrey and Sussex Integrated Care Board (ICB) has issued a contract which will enable Wellsbourne Healthcare CIC to continue providing primary care services to the people of Whitehawk.
This step will ensure continuity of care for patients in the Whitehawk area of Brighton and Hove.
NHS Surrey and Sussex has a responsibility to ensure access to primary medical services for our population, and the contract for up to a year, starting on 1 September 2026 ensures uninterrupted patient care for the Whitehawk community.
At the same time, the ICB will commence a procurement process for a new contract beyond this period.
This will include reviewing how services can best meet the needs of the local population both now and in the future, learning from the work that is already underway in East Brighton through Primary care Networks and the recently-established integrated community team developing neighbourhood health.
